The architectural and interior design concept and projects for the Axis Istanbul Shopping Mall, located in the heart of Istanbul's commercial district, Edirnekapı, were crafted by TEAM Project Architecture under the auspices of Sur Yapı and Hayat Holding.
Axis Istanbul emerges as a mixed-use complex that meets the everyday needs of the community with its inviting forms and dynamic urban planning. This structure provides a living complex with diverse functional areas such as stores, fitness centers, event spaces, play areas, and cinemas. Consequently, the interior architectural project was focused on creating spatial scenarios with high adaptability to meet the changing desires and needs of a broad user base. In this context, principles such as flexibility, adaptability, orientation, inclusivity, material selection, natural/artificial lighting, and green space usage were the core design elements.
The relational structure between interior design and architectural design is constructed on strategies aimed at optimizing user experience. This project prioritizes both the functionality and aesthetic value of spaces. Specifically, strategic arrangements were made in the design of circulation areas and floor halls to enhance user orientation. Additionally, modular design solutions were implemented to ensure spaces can easily adapt to changing needs.
Elements such as lighting, color palette, and material selection were meticulously chosen to enhance users' psychological and physical comfort. Natural and sustainable materials were selected to embody an eco-friendly design philosophy. In particular, wood materials used in the entrance areas and vertical surfaces create a warm and inviting atmosphere. In contrast, the use of blue and green color palettes adds a dynamic appearance. Besides material selection, the integration of green spaces into the interior design deepens the design identity of the space.
Axis Istanbul Shopping Mall offers a rich and diverse spatial experience to its users as a harmonious blend of interior and architectural design. Designed with the flexibility to meet the needs of a wide range of users, this project stands out with its contemporary design approach and commitment to sustainability principles.
